City police arrest pair for heroin-related charges
YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested two people Tuesday in separate traffic stops on drug charges,
Dawna Sayers, 32, of Burbank Avenue, was taken to the Mahoning County jail on a charge of possession of heroin after she was arrested in front of a home in the 1000 block of High Street at about 3:20 p.m. She was a passenger in a car pulled over for an improper turn and the driver told police Sayers had heroin and Sayers admitted it, reports said.
Arrested on charges of possession of heroin and possession of dangerous drugs at about 6 p.m. in the 1800 block of Mahoning Avenue was David Pope, 57, of Oneta Avenue.
Reports said officers stopped Pope when they spotted him because he was indicted by a grand jury earlier this month on unrelated charges.
At the jail, reports said, officers searched Pope and found a bag with three grams of heroin inside, 27 assorted pills, a suboxone strip and some Xanax as well as almost $1,800 in cash.
