Hargus Hall, 33, of Park Avenue, Girard, was sentenced to six months in prison Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to procuring a prostitute for another person.

The sentence runs at the same time as the 15 months in prison he started serving last September for attempted complicity to illegally convey drugs of abuse into the Trumbull County jail.

According to the county sheriff’s office, Hall was charged with the drugs offense after a woman attempted to mail Hall a drug in a greeting card at Hall’s instruction while Hall was in the jail. The drug was in a thin piece of film placed in a greeting card.

The procuring charge stemmed from an investigation by Girard police in July in which officers went undercover to investigate allegations that a Park Avenue woman was engaged in prostitution out of her apartment.

An officer contacted her, talked about prices and arranged to meet her at her apartment, where she was arrested.

She said she was a heroin addict and that Hall takes half of her money from prostitution to protect her.

Police found heroin in the apartment, and she was later convicted of heroin possession in common pleas court and sentenced to five years’ probation.

Hall was arrested at the back of the apartment building just after the woman was arrested.
