Sharon Regional Health System is offering a free bariatric surgery informational session at 6 p.m. May 27 at the Hermitage Diagnostic and Imaging Center, 2435 Garden Way.

The sessions include information on obesity and its impact on overall health, a review of surgical weight-loss options including benefits and risks, a look at body mass index, along with other information to assist participants in making an informed decision about surgical weight-loss treatments.

The Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice has became separate entities: Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Alliance Hospice. Schedule a free ear inspection

During May, National Better Hearing & Speech month, Dr. Sheryl Figliano, doctor of audiology and owner of Centers for Hearing Care, is offering free ear inspections by appointment using a video otoscope, which provides detailed, live and still images of the ear canal and helps visualize a patient’s ear condition.

“These images can be saved, stored and shared with other physicians and the patient to track progress,” Dr. Figliano said.

Woman’s Heart Day

Woman’s Heart Day, a free health and wellness event offered by Mercy Health, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, is from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Covelli Centre, 229 E. Front St.

This event offers free health screenings, fitness demonstrations, educational presentations on a wide range of health issues, cooking demonstrations, spa services, refreshments and giveaways.

Among the health screenings offered this year are bone density, lipid panel (cholesterol) and A1c testing (diabetes), blood-pressure readings, vision screenings, stroke risk and skin-cancer risk assessments.

A “Healthy Eating for You: Eating Mindfulness” presentation, offered by Mercy Health, is free and open to the public from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday in the Willow Room at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St.

Women’s clinic

A women’s clinic offering free mammograms and pap smears, sponsored by the Trinity Breast & Cervical Cancer Grant Program, is May 21 at the Midlothian Free Health Clinic, First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave. Women between 40 and 65 who do not have insurance may call 1-800-921-5151 for information and an appointment.
