Given's trial for attempted murder gets underway with jury selection

YOUNGSTOWN — Jury selection is underway in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court this afternoon in the trial of a Compton Lane man accused pf attempted murder.

Jerome Given, 53, is on trial before Judge Maureen Sweeney for a July 11, 2014 shooting that wounded Charles Pete, 44.

Police found Pete, of Willis Avenue, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with wounds to the chest and hip. The car he came to the hospital in was riddled with bullets and a revolver was found on the front seat, reports said.
