Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 67 McClure St., will highlight Unity Day with weekend events. Mahdi D. Wade is pastor.
Sabria Francis, youth musician, and church members will host a musical program at 5 p.m. next Saturday. Several community church choirs will participate in the event with the theme “Celebrating Christ.” Sabria is mentored by Charles Robinson, minister of music.
At 4 p.m. May 17, the church will host the program “Working as One to Celebrate Christ.” Co-chairmen are Norman and Sabrina Francis. Guests will be Pastor Kenneth Donaldson and the Congregation of Rising Star Baptist Church.
Events are open to all.

Carolyn North McTush of Atlanta, a native of Youngstown, will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday, Mother’s Day, at Hour of Power Full Gospel Tabernacle, 1126 Fruit Ave.
She is the daughter of Prelate Bishop Lillie B. North of Youngstown.

The Rev. Richard “Ric” A. Schumacher delivered his last sermon at Unity Centre for Spiritual Living on April 26. He retired after 14 years of service.
He had served a congregation in Akron and at Unity’s World Headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.
Pastor Schumacher said he is looking forward to time for meditation and writing. He will teach part-time in the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Youngstown State University.

The Society of St. John Chrysostom, Youngstown Warren Chapter, will present “Setting Aside All Cares and Differences: The Divine Liturgy as the Locus Theologicus Where Diversity Gives Birth to Unity” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 N. Walnut St.
Speaker will be the Rev. Protopresbyter Dr. Steylios S. Muksuris, professor of literature and languages at Byzantine Catholic Seminary Pittsburgh. He serves Dormition Greek Orthodox Church in Aliquippa, Pa.
