POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

April 2

Theft: A man reported 14 over-the-counter pills missing from his residence in the 800 block of Doris Drive.

April 5

Animal complaint: A Myron Street woman reported her neighbor’s dogs had been digging under her fence and attacking her dogs.

Domestic violence: Eric A. Lamb, 34, of South Main Street, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after his former girlfriend with whom he lives alleged Lamb had choked and threatened her during an argument.

Harassment: A Pothour-Wheeler Road man reported a neighbor has filed continual complaints against the accuser in a harassing manner.

Theft: A Hubbard man reported his $400 iPhone stolen while in the 300 block of North Main Street.

Trespassing: Police handed a criminal-trespassing warning to a 30-year-old Hubbard man after his former girlfriend, of Christian Avenue, reported he had been knocking on her door in the middle of the night.

Forgery: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., alleged a student had altered the dates and other information on medical excuses so as to miss multiple days of school.

April 6

Menacing: A Hubbard woman said a Park Avenue man had acted in a threatening manner toward her.

LIBERTY

April 2

Arrest: Police responded to a suspicious person in the 6600 block of Belmont Avenue, where they took into custody Vincent E. Baker of East Liberty Street, Girard. The 39-year-old Baker was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Arrest: Youngstown police handed Marvin Howell, 35, of Victor Avenue, Youngstown, to township authorities. He was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to a charge of possession of drug-abuse instruments against Russell Conyer III, 21, of Robbins Avenue, Niles, when, authorities said, they found a syringe.

Theft: Two Youngstown girls, 15 and 17, were accused of stealing an alcoholic beverage from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Also, charges of underage possession of alcohol were pending against the teens.

Arrest: Andres Miranda, 39, of Magnolia Avenue, Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Citation: Authorities cited Jamal W. Perkins on a disorderly conduct charge after alleging they saw Perkins, 34, of Oakland Drive, Youngstown, urinating next to a business in the 3000 block of Belmont Avenue.

Arrest: Police near Gypsy Lane and Belmont Avenue picked up Oscar L. Akins, 23, of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

April 3

Arrest: Torrielarae Crump, 39, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. Crump, of Ohio Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on charges of theft and obstructing official business.

Vehicle theft: An employee with a Belmont Avenue business reported her 2000 GMC Safari van stolen while at work.

Arrest: Police on state Route 193 pulled over and took into custody Brandon K. Lee, 25, of Stanley Street, Girard, who was charged with operating a vehicle impaired. Lee’s blood-alcohol count was 0.161, slightly more than twice the legal limit, a report said.

April 4

Identity fraud: A Holly Drive woman told officers she received a notice from the Internal Revenue Service stating someone without authorization had used her identity to file income-tax returns for 2013 and 2014.

Possible child abuse: Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Keefer Road and were told about possible abuse of a 13-year-old girl.

April 5

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue transferred custody of Justin G. Patterson to township authorities. Patterson, 24, of Florencedale Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Domestic violence: Police charged Aaron C. Friday, 32, of Trumbull Court, Liberty, with one misdemeanor count each of domestic violence, unlawful restraint, violating a protection order and aggravated menacing after his wife alleged Friday had abused and held her against her will for several days. The victim further reported he had held a knife to her throat, punched her face and threatened her life, a report showed.

Arrest: Police arrested Darlene M. Haffner, 36, of Indian Run Drive, Canfield, at the Mahoning County jail on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.

April 6

Drugs: Authorities responded to a possible drug overdose in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue, where they reported having found a man unconscious, as well as a syringe, a tablespoon with burn marks common in drug use and a suspected crack-cocaine pipe. Drug-related charges were pending.

Harassment: A West Montrose Avenue woman said that another woman has made unwanted calls to her, including an implied threat.

Recovered property: A 2009 Chevrolet Malibu vehicle was damaged in an accident in Youngstown after a Homestead Drive woman had reported the car stolen.

Drugs: After receiving information that a student may have suspected marijuana, an official with Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way, alleged the teen revealed a small bag containing about 2 grams of the drug. The student received a 10-day suspension.

GIRARD

April 5

Burglary: To a home in the 20 block of Hickory Trace Drive. Stolen was a $10,882 gold engagement ring.

April 6

Possible arson: Three witnesses told police they saw someone in a dark vehicle leaving the scene of a car fire near Louis Avenue.

Menacing: An East Prospect Street woman alleged a neighbor had threatened to seriously harm her and tried to entice her to fight after accusing the victim of taking pictures of the neighbor’s children.

April 7

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 422 resulted in the arrest of Heather M. Estes, 36, of Red Oaks Drive, Girard, on a city warrant.

Burglary: Took place at an apartment in the 700 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road, though the resident found no signs of forced entry. About $290 and assorted jewelry were missing.

Possible burglary: A woman returned to her apartment in the 900 block of Patricia Drive and noticed a broken door handle. It didn’t appear anything was missing, however.

April 8

Arrest: Torry D. Cato, 20, of Patricia Drive, Girard, was picked up after having been stopped near Shannon Road. Cato was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
