Police have released more details in a fight that critically injured a man Friday on West Delason Avenue.

The fight happened around 1:15 p.m. in the 400 block, according to a report.

The report does not release the names of the victim or the suspect.

Police said the suspect came to fight the victim, who is dating the mother of the suspect’s child.

The suspect at one point had a gun in his hand, but put it away and agreed to a fight with no weapons, the report said.

The suspect picked up the victim, slammed him on his head in the street and may have punched him in the face, the report said. The victim was unconscious in the street and began having seizures. The suspect and people who came with him started to push and shove the victim’s family. After flashing the gun again, the suspect fled.

An officer followed up at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where the victim was taken, and spoke with witnesses.

They said the suspect was still texting their phones, saying “it’s not over and that there would be “gun play.”

The victim was in critical condition as of last update, the report says.
