CAMPBELL

Campbell will see a new business in the community by the end of this year, said Mayor William VanSuch.

A Dollar Tree store, which will employ 12 to 18 people, will open at the corner of U.S. Route 422 and Woodland Avenue by Dec. 1.

“I’m very proud of Campbell,” VanSuch said.

For the past eight months, the mayor collaborated with Boardman-based Cocca Development, a developer for Dollar Tree stores, to make the store a reality.

Now in his fifth year as mayor, VanSuch said “it’s a struggle” to bring in more employment opportunities to the community.

The 10,000-square-foot building will be built where a nightclub called Sharkey’s, then later Essence Lounge, used to be before it was torn down.

“We think it’s a great opportunity for us,” said Rex Fisher, CFO of Cocca.

“It will help the city,” he added. “It was the right thing to do.”

Fisher said construction will start as soon as they close on the property.

“We’ll have to start breaking ground as soon as possible,” he said.
