YSU honors Chuey with herbarium dedication

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State University today dedicated its herbarium, a collection of more than 100,000 plant specimens, in memory of Carl F. Chuey, a biology professor who died last spring.

Chuey provided a $100,000 gift to establish a program endowment to fund the herbarium. When he came to YSU in 1967, the herbarium included just 200 specimens. Today there are about 115,000. It is the fourth-largest of 35 herbaria in Ohio.
