POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman Township:
April 30
Burglary: Dewayne C. Parker of East Dewey Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with burglary and violating a protection order after a Country Club Avenue woman alleged the 29-year-old Parker had entered her residence, in violation of the order, and taken an item from her refrigerator.
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 3900 block of Sunset Drive told police her former boyfriend did $100 in damage to her storm door.
Theft: Someone stole 10 DVDs from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: A purse was removed from a car parked in the 4400 block of South Avenue.
Citation: Police responding to a report of a reckless driver near Walker Mill Road cited Patrick S. Paris Jr. of Indian Trail, Poland, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and failure to comply with police. Paris, 48, had initially refused to pull over, a report said.
Drugs: A 13-year-old township boy faced a fourth-degree-felony charge of trafficking in drugs after a teacher at Boardman Canter Middle School, 7410 Market St., alleged the teen admitted to her that he had sold 20 over-the-counter pills to someone for $60.
Theft: Thirteen DVDs were taken from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.
May 1
Arrest: Youngstown police transferred custody of Gene Williams of Lois Court, Youngstown, to township authorities. Williams, 35, faced one felony count each of theft by deception and passing a bad check after a March 19 situation at Midwest Money Center, 5021 Market St., in which a $1,161.58 check was cashed before its stop-payment status was discovered.
Attempted fraud: An employee with a Tiffany Boulevard restaurant reported a woman claiming to represent Ohio Edison Co. called stating that the business is behind in paying its electric bill and that the utility would be disconnected unless payment was made. The caller also said a gift card could be used as payment, a police report showed.
Theft: A woman stole $25 worth of merchandise from Dollar General, 4996 Market St.
Drugs: George Kelly, 29, of Cook Avenue, Boardman, was taken into custody on a felony warrant charging trafficking in marijuana after he had been pulled over April 29 on Afton Avenue. A bag containing eight small individual bags of suspected marijuana was found, police alleged.
Menacing: Authorities in the 7300 block of Market Street picked up William P. Kofalt, who was wanted on telecommunications-harassment and menacing charges. Kofalt, 29, of Market Street, Boardman, was accused of sending several threatening text messages April 20 to his landlord as she began proceedings to evict him from his apartment.
Theft by deception: A man reportedly wrote a $21,000 check to buy a vehicle from a Market Street dealership before the check bounced.
Theft: A man discovered a firearm and other items missing while moving to a Mathews Road residence.
Citation: Paul J. Dascenzo, no age given, of Market Street, Boardman, was cited on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over near Market.
Drugs: Officers responded to a vehicle in a fire lane at Walmart before arresting Elizabeth A. Soich, 34, of Glendale Avenue, Boardman, on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Soich, who also was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant charging theft, had a needle, a syringe and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use, police said.
Aggravated menacing: A Clifton Drive man told officers that while driving, someone pulled in behind him as he parked and made an implied threat that the accuser could be shot.
Menacing: A Hopkins Road woman said her former boyfriend has been following and driving past her home during the past few months.
May 2
Aggravated menacing: An employer with a Southern Boulevard business told police a worker whom the accuser had laid off threatened to harm him.
Arrest: A traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 led to the arrest of Jacob D. Baringer, who listed addresses in Westlake and Broadview Heights, Ohio. Baringer, 24, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and had a 0.125 blood-alcohol count, a report showed.
Theft: Aryn R. Kominiak, 25, faced a theft charge. The Monroeville, Pa., woman was accused of stealing a cellphone and charger as well as various groceries from Walmart.
Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown girl was cited after a tube of nail polish was taken from Walmart.
Harassment: A Firnley Avenue woman said her former boyfriend has made and sent such calls and text messages to her.
Identity fraud: A Griswold Drive woman discovered someone without authorization had made a $10,507.50 withdrawal from her business’s checking account.
Theft: A woman noticed a $600 cellphone missing from her Mathews Road residence.
Theft: A woman reportedly stole items that included six toothbrushes and three shirts from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Possible theft: A Sciota Avenue woman reported her cellphone lost or stolen.
Theft: A woman fled from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road, after reportedly stealing three items, including a pair of women’s sunglasses.
Theft: A woman took five candles from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Possible theft: Someone in the 6300 block of South Avenue entered a car, though it was unknown if anything was taken.
Theft: A vehicle key was missing from a Boardman-Canfield fitness center.
Theft: A man stole a $100 car battery from Walmart.
May 3
Arrest: A vehicle check on East Midlothian Boulevard resulted in the arrest of 25-year-old Lasha R. Lee of Moyer Avenue, Boardman. She was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Burglary: Took place at an apartment in the 7100 block of Locust Avenue when the front door had been pried open. Thirty over-the-counter pills, $520, jewelry and other items were stolen.
Theft: A manager with Steak ‘n’ Shake, 6706 Applewood Blvd., discovered an undisclosed amount of money missing.
Criminal mischief: A lighted candle was placed in a front-yard tree in the 3900 block of Dover Road.
Menacing: An employee for a Boardman-Poland Road eatery reported someone has been following her and watching the accuser at work.
Theft: The front license plate was stolen off a car in the 1800 block of Lemont Drive.
Theft: An undisclosed sum of money was removed from a cash register at Family Video, 5205 Market St.
May 4
Burglary/vandalism: Someone gained access to an apartment building in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle, then kicked, punched and damaged a door.
Counterfeit: A phony $10 bill was discovered in the Boardman High School cafeteria, 7777 Glenwood Ave.
Theft: A vehicle in the 100 block of Carter Circle was found with its rear license plate missing.
Burglary: To a home in the 5200 block of Jeanne Lynn Avenue after a rear door had been forced open. Stolen were two TVs and assorted jewelry.
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle scratched and did an estimated $1,200 in damage to a vehicle.
Theft: A $75 wildlife-trapping device was removed from a front yard in the 5200 block of Southern Boulevard.
Theft: A woman in her 50s tried to steal four meat products from Rulli Bros., 8025 South Ave., before fleeing in a car.
Robbery/felonious assault: Authorities responded to a possible fight in the 800 block of Cook Avenue, where two women reported a man came toward them with a knife before slashing and flattening a tire on their vehicle. One of the victims further reported he had taken her iPhone.
