Man’s rape admission is 1st for detective
Staff report
WARREN
A Warren police detective said the admission Saturday of Jesse W. Young, 37, of Maryland Street Northeast, to raping a 7-year-old girl is a first for him.
“I’ve never had anyone walk in and say that,” detective Nick Carney said. Young told Carney he needed to confess that he had inappropriately touched the girl, but he later admitted more serious offenses, Carney said.
Young was arraigned Monday in Warren Municipal Court on one count of rape, but other charges are likely, Carney said. He is in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $1 million bond.
The girl is now in the custody of Trumbull County Children Services. Carney said no suitable family member to care for her has yet been found.
