MERCER county DOGS

State dog wardens will be conducting canvassing checking for dog licenses and rabies vaccinations during May in Mercer County.

The Mercer County treasurer is reminding all residents who have not purchased a 2015 dog license, now is the time to purchase them. State law requires all dogs 3 months and older to be licensed by Jan. 1 of each year. Dog licenses can be purchased in the county treasurer’s office, online at www.mcc.co.mercer.pa.us or at a local dog license agent.

An annual dog license is $ 8.50, or $6.50 if the animal is spayed or neutered, and purchased at the county treasurer’s office. Lifetime licenses are available for dogs that have permanent identification such as a microchip or tattoo. Older adults and people with disabilities may be eligible for discounts.

The dog license application is simple and requests only owner contact information and details about the dog being licensed, such as name, age, breed and color. For more information or to obtain the name of the business in your area that sells dog licenses, call the Mercer County Treasurer’s Office at 724-662-4440 or email grichard@mcc.co.mercer.pa.us.
