Girl Scouts of North East Ohio and its board of directors honored volunteers at the 2015 Adult Recognition Ceremony on April 18 at the Holiday Inn Cleveland-South.
They were recognized for helping girls develop confidence, courage and character in the Girl Scout program.
GSNEO has more than 8,000 active volunteers who play an important role in Girl Scouting. As role models for girls they lead, volunteers introduce girls to new experiences and create lasting memories.
Volunteer opportunities can fit various schedules, skills and interests. They include troop leader, program facilitator, service unit director, event chairman or committee member, Girl Scout Leadership Experience coach and board member. All opportunities play an important role in serving 35,000 girls in GSNEO’s 18-county area.
A total of 85 adult volunteers received awards. Appreciation Pins went to 45, Honor Pins went to eight, Thanks Badges went to four, Thanks Badges II went to two, and Girl Scouts of North East Ohio Awards went to 26.
The following honors were awarded to members of the East Service Area:
Mary Jesunas of Parkman: Appreciation Pin, which recognizes an individual’s exemplary service in support of delivering leadership experience.
Wendy Gibson of Vienna and Kathleen Milleson of Warren: Thanks Badge, which honors someone whose ongoing commitment, leadership and service have an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire council of Girl Scout movement.
