Boar’s Head Group of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. The meal includes mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. The cost is $7.50. No reservations are necessary. Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road (Route 224), Poland, is selling cavatelli dinners from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Meals include homemade sauce, two meatballs, tossed salad, bread and two cookies for $9. A smaller portion of cavatelli and one meatball is $5. The church also will sell homemade pasta sauce for $5 a quart. All sales are takeout only. Place your order, remain in your car and dinners will be delivered to you.
THURSDAY
Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will host a drive-through chicken dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out for $8 each. A stuffed chicken breast comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie.
FRIDAY
Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316. Orders can be picked up beginning at noon. A limited supply of frozen pirogi will be available. The last day for sales is May 29.
Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.
Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.
Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will take orders for freshly made each week potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. No containers are necessary. Orders should be placed from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The cost is $6 per dozen, and no containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome; use the side entrance.
St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome. The final sale of the season will be May 22. Sales will resume in September.
St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.
SATURDAY
Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield Niles Road (corner of Kirk Road and Route 46), is hosting a free pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Donations will be accepted and proceeds will be used for World Service Projects.
St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will host a haluski dinner with kolbasi, applesauce and dessert from 4 to 6:30 p.m. It is a drive in, drive out, takeout dinner only. Prices are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. From noon to 6:30, quarts of haluski will sell for $5 each.
SUNDAY
Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, will present a Shavuot cooking class with chef Alison Gutwaks at 3 p.m. Sunday in the adult lounge. Dairy recipes will be featured. Shavuot refers to the Jewish festival marking the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. An outdoor dinner, weather permitting, will begin at 6 p.m. with music and wine. Cooking class and dinner costs $30, and dinner alone is $18. To register, call the bursar’s office at 330-746-3250, ext. 195.
St. James the Apostle Church, 4019 U.S. Route 422 in Pulaski, one mile east of the Ohio-Pa. line, will sponsor its breakfast-brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children. Breakfast includes french toast, sweet cheese filling, buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes, scrambled eggs, eggs with peppers, onions and cheese, home fries, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, cinnamon rolls, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, juices and milk.
TUESDAY
Columbiana First United Methodist Church, 210 S. Main St., Columbiana, will sponsor a drive-through ham dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The meal includes red-skin parsley potatoes, green beans, applesauce and a brownie. A $7 donation is requested.
UPCOMING
St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Ave., will host an elevator fundraiser dinner, sponsored by the Ladies Altar Guild, at noon May 17 in Colonial Hall at the church. The meal consists of roast beef, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, bread and butter, dessert, coffee, tea, water and pop. The cost is $15 for adults and $7.50 for children.
