WEST CHESTER, Ohio

A woman who was among several utility workers hurt when a vehicle struck them at a southwest Ohio work site last month has died of her injuries.

Ron Brotherton of traffic-control company Area Wide Protective confirmed Monday the death of employee Amber Marie Rooks. The 24-year-old Norwood, Ohio, woman died over the weekend in a Cincinnati hospital.

Police said a car crossed over the center line on a busy road in the northern Cincinnati suburb of West Chester on April 22 and hit four workers next to a utility truck installing new power lines.

Another injured worker was in a utility vehicle’s bucket installing lines.

Police say charges are pending in the case.

Duke Energy has said the injured workers were employees of subcontractors.
