YOUNGSTOWN — The National Association of Letter Carriers annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive “Building on a Billion,” in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, is Saturday.
To participate, Postal Service patrons can leave nonperishable food donations in a bag by their mailbox before the mail is delivered Saturday.
Suggested items include cereal, pasta, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meals such as soups, chili and pasta, 100 percent juice, peanut butter, pasta or spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned protein, such as tuna, chicken and turkey, and beans (canned or dry).
The donated items will be delivered to food banks and pantries to help feed families in need, said Postmaster General Megan Brennan. For information about the Stamp Out Hunger food drive, visit http://www.nalc.org/community-service/food-drive/food-drive-tool-kit
