Judge OKs Ohio terror plot suspect’s review of tapes alone

CINCINNATI (AP) — A federal judge has agreed to let a man accused of plotting to attack the U.S. Capitol building privately review video and audio files in the case against him.

U.S. District Judge Sandra Beckwith today granted a motion by the assistant federal public defender representing 21-year-old Christopher Lee Cornell. Karen Savir said having counsel present for Cornell’s file reviews in jail wasn’t practical because of the “massive amount.”

Judge Beckwith said files can be left with Cornell five consecutive days, on condition that he not have access to the Internet or to outgoing mail while he has the files.

Cornell has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder of U.S. officials and employees and two other counts. He’s been jailed without bond since his Jan. 14 arrest in western Cincinnati.
