Jameson Hospital to cut back on operations

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Jameson Hospital’s board of directors have decided to convert the south campus from a 24 hours per day, seven days a week facility to a weekday daytime facility.

This announcement came while Jameson Health System awaits approval from the Pennsylvania Attorney General to merge with UPMC. The two entities had hoped to complete the merger by March 1, and then April 1; however, regulators continue to extend the review process.

“The age and condition of our South Campus has made it impossible to financially sustain and preserve during the extended regulatory review period awaiting an impending merger with UPMC,” said Doug Danko, FACHE, president and CEO of Jameson Health System. “Continued operation of the South Campus on a 24-hour basis is simply not sustainable at this time.”
