Scott Lewis leaves position as director of Big Reach Center of Hope

Scott Lewis, founder and executive director of the Big Reach Center of Hope, has stepped down from his role at the center.

Lisa Wallace, marketing and donor relations, also has left her position.

Big Reach Center of Hope, an organization owned by Greenford Christian Church, is celebrating its 11th year as an organization that provides food distribution to families in need, supplies school-age children with food for the weekend, educates parents to improve their skills and capabilities within the home and comforts those going through hard times in their lives

A news release said the change came after meetings took place focusing on the direction of the center. An issue was Big Reach becoming an independent nonprofit organization and not remaining under the umbrella of the church. Lewis said he believed it was time for Big Reach to be an independent 501(c)(3). Lewis also resigned as benevolence minister at the church.

The church leadership currently is overseeing Big Reach. A search is on for a new director. Greenford Christian plans to carry on the vision of Big Reach to meet the needs of the underserved in the community.

“Because of our amazing partners through the years, we feel confident the center provided the highest level of service through listening and responding to feedback, implementing new programs and closing stale-dated ones, recruiting volunteers and trying our very best to fulfill each need as it arose,” Lewis said.

Wallace added, “All the time, energy, prayer and financial assistance placed in Big Reach over the years has forged solid relationships with our partners, volunteers and the members of the Greenford Christian Church congregation. We are confident that together with all the support we received, Big Reach is a strong, resilient ministry that can and should continue to flourish in our absence.”
