Arrested in ’09 crime

BOARDMAN

Township police arrested a man Friday for a crime that originally was reported in 2009.

Gene Williams, 35, of Youngstown, faces fifth- degree felony charges of passing bad checks and theft by deception. The charges stem from a March 2009 report filed by Midwest Money Center, 5021 Market St., alleging that Williams cashed a $1,161 check made payable to him that the business later discovered was invalid.

Williams was picked up by Youngstown police Friday and handed over to township police. He was released on bond, pending a court appearance.
