Historical society to host antiques appraisal
NEW CASTLE, PA.
Antiques and collectibles can be appraised from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lawrence County Historical Society, 408 N. Jefferson St., in the Medure Annex Building.
Experts will be on hand to appraise all types of items, including paintings, jewelry, toys, military, coins, clocks, books, glassware, advertising, sports memorabilia, stamps, trading cards, post cards, vintage clothing and accessories. Photos of large items may be viewed for evaluation.
The cost is $5 for two items and $10 for up to five items. Free refreshments and tours will be available for those having appraisals.

Dress drive to gather prom and other gowns

The Giving Closet at Evangel Baptist Church, 5248 Southern Blvd., is teaming up with Buttermaid Bakery in the Boardman Plaza to collect dresses, shoes and jewelry for prom and other dances for next year.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Prom dresses will be given away in March or April of 2016. If a dress is needed for other occasions before then, call the church at 330-782-1151 to make arrangements.
YWCA will benefit from Movers for Moms
YOUNGSTOWN
YWCA of Youngstown has been chosen as a recipient in the Movers for Moms Mother’s Day Program sponsored by Two Men and a Truck.
The local Two Men and a Truck business is collecting donations for the YWCA for delivery on Mother’s Day. Collections began in mid-March and run until Mother’s Day, Sunday.
Specific needs include pillows, towels, washcloths, toothpaste, tooth brushes, diapers, socks, slippers, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, perfume, deodorant, robes, laundry detergent, lotions, pots and pans, cooking utensils, blankets, nail polish and batteries.
Organizations interested in being collection partners should call the local Two Men and A Truck office at 330-758-2110 or email movers4moms@twomen.com.
Donations also can be taken to Two Men and A Truck, 85 Karago Ave., Unit 10, Boardman, or the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave.
