Bed bugs blamed for bedroom blaze

YOUNGSTOWN — Fire reports said a man checking his mattress for bed bugs started a fire at a South Side home early Saturday morning that caused $800 in damage.

Reports said crews were called to 320 Mistletoe Ave. about 12:40 a.m.and after they arrived they were able to quickly contain it to a bedroom.

One of the people in the home said he was checking his mattress for bed bugs when he leaned it against a space heater and it caught on fire, reports said.

No one was injured.
