Allegiant receives court order, stops potential pilot strikes
VIENNA — The only commercial airliner in operation at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport has received another court order to prevent its pilots from going on strike.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air received an injunction from a Las Vegas court against the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 1224, the union representing its pilots, the company said over the weekend.
“With the threat of a strike lifted, Allegiant looks forward to directing its time and energy back to the negotiating table to work on securing a contract that will be beneficial to both its pilots and the company,” the company said in a statement.
The company and the pilots have been in negotiations since last fall.
The pilots have said they would like to see the reestablishment of a previous scheduling system and return of other benefits.
