Salvation Army of Mahoning County is having a weeklong celebration of 130 years of service to the Mahoning Valley. It begins at 2 p.m. today with a March of Witness from the Youngstown Playhouse, off Glenwood Avenue, to the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., followed by a Celebration of Praise service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, the annual Civic Dinner is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland. New US citizens

YOUNGSTOWN

Twelve people became U.S. citizens in a Thursday naturalization ceremony before Judge Shirley Christian of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Wildflower walk

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

The public is invited to celebrate the arrival of spring with a 90-minute wildflower walk at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, at 2 p.m. next Sunday. Jennings staff will introduce the unique history, uses and folklore of the season’s first blooms.

OVI violations

CAMPBELL

The Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted two sobriety checkpoints with Campbell police Friday on state Route 289 near Palmer Avenue and U.S. Route 422 near Lettie Avenue. They netted seven OVI arrests, five citations for driving under suspension, 10 summonses for drug abuse and two for drug paraphernalia. There were two felony arrests on state Route 289 for a weapons charge and possession of crack cocaine, and four at the other checkpoint, including a fleeing-and-eluding charge.
