Church anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN
Peoples Chapel, 2145 Hillman St., will celebrate its 43rd anniversary during a worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Martha Taylor of Metro Assembly of God.
Day of Prayer
CANFIELD
Canfield Ministerial Association will conduct an ecumenical service for National Day of Prayer at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Gazebo on the Green. There will be music and prayers for global, national, state, local and community leaders and emergency responders. Rain location is Canfield United Methodist Church.
The ninth annual Salem Area National Day of Prayer will be at noon Thursday on the Village Green. Pastors and lay people will participate.
Service for Scouts
YOUNGSTOWN
Bishop George V. Murry will conduct a prayer service at 10 a.m. next Saturday in St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., honoring Scouts and Scouters who have earned Catholic religious awards for 2014-15.
Young men and women, along with select adult leaders, will receive awards from Bishop Murry. Younger Scouts who have earned their religious awards this past year will receive a special diocesan patch signifying their accomplishments.
Leo Koller, diocesan National Catholic Committee on Scouting chairman, will be honored for 75 years of service.
Groening lecture

Bruno Groening Circle of Friends will have a free 90-minute lecture, featuring Arlene Barkan, leader of the Youngstown and Cleveland Communities and Internet Children’s Community of North America, at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St. A short documentary film will be shown.
The Circle of Friends is not affiliated with Lord of Life or any other religion. To attend community hours, participants must be introduced at an information lecture. Contact Barkan at 330-372-3144.
