Ceremony, dinner to honor Columbiana leaders class

The board of directors of Leadership Columbiana County invites the public to a graduation ceremony and dinner honoring the Leadership Class of 2014-2015.
The event will take place May 13 at the Salem Golf Club, 1967 S. Lincoln Ave. Guest speaker Andrew Doehrel, Ohio Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, will talk about making a difference in the issues that affect communities.
An hors d’oeuvres reception will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the presentation of the graduating class, dinner and the keynote address.
The cost is $20 per person and includes an appetizer, buffet dinner, dessert, coffee or tea and networking. Make reservations by Friday by calling the Salem Chamber at 330-337-3473 or emailing tlpeppel@salemohiochamber.org.
Current LCC class members, sponsors and presenters are to attend as guests of LCC, and their meals are complimentary.
Leadership Columbiana County was created and initially funded by the Columbiana Progress Council in early 2000. It is a nonprofit organization that provides intensive classroom and hands-on experience to build leadership potential.
The leaders then are taught the skills to act as positive forces for the benefit of Columbiana County.
Board members are Jenny Pike, president; Atty. Katie Dickey, vice president; Atty. Megan Forsythe; Nick Hoff, treasurer; Deb Mayernik, past president; Mel Bickerton; Lori Everly; David Hughes; Gloria Tritten-Mathews; Julie Needs; Mike Parkes; and Darrin Miller.
Class participants are Mike Roofner and Teri Takach, Job and Family Services; Christina Sweeney, Business and Professional Women; Sherry Chidester, Freshmark; Connie Frenger, Salem Visiting Angels; Monica Allison, Ohio Valley College of Technology; Courtney Kountz and Sheena McElroy, Community Action Agency; Kerrie Ham, Alliance Community Hospital; Marie Traina, Heritage Thermal Services; Travis Burton, Specialty Fab; David Vollnogle, Columbinaa County Farm Bureau; and Melissa Dwyer, Salem Regional Hospital.
This year’s class is LCC’s 15th. More than 200 future leaders have graduated from the program.
