ELLSWORTH
Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, 11171 Akron-Canfield Road (Route 224) one-eighth-mile west of Route 45, will serve dinners of chicken and gravy over biscuits, mashed potatoes, vegetable, dessert and a beverage from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The cost is $8 for adults, $3.50 for children 4 to 11, and free for children 3 and under. Takeouts will be available. For information contact Sherry Weamer at 330-538-3771.
The dinner had been postponed from last week because of a power outage.
Library to feature family activities

Salem Public Library will present Full Steam Ahead for students in grades three through six at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Quaker Room, 821 E. On Thursday the library will host a LEGO building contest at 6:30 p.m. in the children’s department for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Registration is not required. Voting will begin at 7 p.m.
Kids in kindergarten through second grade may participate in Hands On at the library at 6:30 p.m. May 11 in the children’s department. The theme is secret agents. All supplies are provided. Registration is required beginning Monday.
Library schedules knitting classes

Kay Thompson, from the Knit Wit Knits shop, is teaching beginning knitting classes at the Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and May 12.

Event to benefit Hope House
YOUNGSTOWN
Hope House Visitation Center is announcing the fourth annual Theater Fundraising event May 9 in partnership with the Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, off Glenwood Avenue.
The event begins at 6 p.m. at the playhouse with a preshow party, hors d’oeuvres, a cookie and dessert table, beer, wine and soda. The musical “Fiddler on the Roof” will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased by calling Amy Chismar at 330-533-2628 or Hope House at 330-788-8882 by Tuesday.
Hope House provides safe, neutral supervised visitation and exchange services to families and children who are in crisis.
Make artworks and help YWCA
YOUNGSTOWN
Artist Brenda Myers Cohen will instruct participants in the art of making a 5-inch-by-7-inch project – either on rice paper with watercolors or a collage. The resulting artworks will be donated to support YWCA Housing in conjunction with Women Artists: A Celebration.
Pieces will be auctioned at the preview party and be available for sale throughout the exhibit.
Sessions take place from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday and May 13, 20 and 27 at the Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave.
The door and parking lot are in the back of the building. The cost is $6 per person, per session, payable at the beginning of the class. All supplies are furnished, and you may attend as many sessions as you wish. No registration is required.
Day trip will offer visit to Amish country
Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild is sponsoring a one-day bus trip to Ohio Amish country June 24, and it will include dinner at the Amish Door.
There will be two pickups: 7 a.m. at Niles Kmart and 7:30 a.m. at Austintown Plaza. The cost is $45 for guild members and $50 for others. Prepaid reservations are due by May 18.
