Kindergarten students experience 65th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

On April 1 at Boardman Park, kindergarten students from all of the Boardman Local Schools came to the 65th Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt. More than 300 students attended this annual event. It was headed for the sixth year by George Basista.
Basista had volunteers helping from Boardman High School’s Key Club and home economics class.
Members from the Key Club, including the Easter Bunny, helped with the children. Those helped from the home economics class by putting the candy in the eggs for the hunt.
“Some just love to come up and want to hug the Easter Bunny,” Basista said. “It’s always nice to have a very energetic Easter Bunny — since he’s not allowed to talk.”
The Easter Bunny wove his way through the children, taking pictures, shaking hands and playing hide and seek using the windows of the pavilion and some nearby trees.
“I like seeing the kids faces when they see the Easter Bunny and the waving and that excitement that they get,” Basista said.
Other contributors for this event were Giannios Candy who provided chocolate bunnies, Chic-Fil-A who provided a coupon for a free children’s meal and Walmart who supplied the candy in the eggs and juice boxes for refreshments after the Easter Egg Hunt.
