Pinwheel event Friday in Warren kicks off Child Abuse Prevention Month

WARREN — In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, Trumbull County Children Services, in conjunction with the Akron Children’s Hospital’s Mahoning Valley Child Advocacy Center and the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund, is hosting a Pinwheels for Prevention event at 1 p.m. Friday at TCCS, 2282 Reeves Road NE.

The display of 1,485 pinwheels represents the number of child-maltreatment reports received in Trumbull County in 2014; adults who advocate for children; and children who are growing up in safe, loving families.

The event begins a monthlong campaign by Prevent Child Abuse Ohio to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and to encourage support for prevention.
