Classmates continue to mourn at South Range school
SOUTH RANGE — Grief counselors remain available today at South Range Elementary School to aid classmates of the fourth-grader killed in Monday's early morning fire on Youngstown's South Side.
Corinne Gump, 10, and her grandparents, William and Judith Schmidt died in the fire on Powers Way.
"We continue to offer counseling and monitor our staff and students," said Dennis Dunham, superintendent of South Range schools. He further said that today will be "equally difficult" as Monday "as names and more info has been released."
He noted that the district has school counselors and clergy members and other counselors have offered their services to the district.
