Free wellness fair

YOUNGSTOWN

Registration is open for 300 Sisters in Red, a free health and wellness fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 18 in Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.

Sponsored by Mercy Health Youngstown and The Links Inc., Youngstown Chapter, the event is open to the first 300 women who respond. Activities include free health screenings, lunch, presentations by physicians including Dr. Fidelis O. Mkparu, who will present “The Effects of Depression on the Heart,” and other health-care professionals, fitness demonstrations, massages, door prizes and displays.

Diabetes education

Mercy Health Youngstown is offering diabetes education April 7, 8 and 9 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

The three-day course runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the diabetes classroom at St. Elizabeth Hospital and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Classroom 1 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

Free parking is available in the deck on Park Avenue for those attending the class at St. Elizabeth, 1044 Belmont Ave. At St. Joseph, free parking is available in any visitor lot.

Diabetes awareness

Alliance Community Hospital, 200 E. State St., is offering a free Diabetes Awareness Group meeting from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in cafeteria conference Room 1A .

Yvette Graham, a program specialist with the Ohio State University Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program, will present “Think Your Drink,” a discussion of different drinks and their sugar content and how they can affect blood-glucose management.

CPR/FA/AED course

YOUNGSTOWN/BOARDMAN

Easter Seals is offering the American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid (FA)/Automated External Defibrillators (AED) review and renewal course. A valid certification card for CPR/FA/AED will be required before being eligible to take this course.

Course locations are: Easter Seals Main Center, 299 Edwards St., Youngstown, 3 to 6 p.m. April 14; and Easter Seals Adult Day Center, 721 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman, 3 to 6 p.m. April 15.
