Two men were arraigned Monday morning in Niles Municipal Court after being arrested over the weekend on charges stemming from Niles criminal incidents.

William J.I. Lewis Jr., 40, of Frederick Street in Niles, was released from the Trumbull County jail after posting $7,500 bond Monday morning.

No plea was required on a charge of felonious assault. He’s accused of assaulting a female at his home on Frederick Street at 1 p.m. Feb. 6. He was picked up by Struthers police on a warrant over the weekend.

In a separate case, James L. Davis, 31, of Oregon Avenue Northwest in Warren, was arraigned Monday in Niles Municipal Court on an aggravated-robbery charge from Sept. 14 in which he’s accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and stealing her cellphone on Wood Street in Niles.

Judge Thomas Townley did not require Davis to enter a plea, and bond was set at $10,000.

Davis was arrested at 8:23 a.m. Saturday in the driveway of a house on Mayflower Street Northwest.

Police found him asleep at the wheel of his car. Police discovered the warrant out of Niles and were preparing to arrest him when Davis fled on foot. He was captured a short time later.

He pleaded not guilty Monday morning in Warren Municipal Court to resisting arrest and driving under suspension. No plea was required on two felony charges of drug possession after police found heroin and oxycodone in his pocket. Police seized $3,398 in cash he had with him.

Bond was set at $5,000.
