Registration, screening at Columbiana schools

Columbiana

Columbiana School District will have kindergarten registration and screening April 8-10. Parents interested in signing up their child for kindergarten should bring the child when registering. The registration process will take about an hour.

Students and parents will meet with the nurse for medical background and immunization information, as well as a vision screening. Students also will have a one-on-one meeting with the speech and language therapist and meet with a kindergarten teacher to screen basic readiness skills.

Teachers will meet with each parent to share information. To register, parents will need to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card, proof of residency and custody papers, if applicable.

If a parent is applying for open enrollment in the school district, paperwork must be complete in the superintendent’s office before registering a child for kindergarten. Parents may begin calling between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday for an appointment on any of the three available days. Call Joshua Dixon Elementary School at 330-482-5355.
