Pet lover said she just 'wants to give back'

CANFIELD
For Karen James, longtime volunteer at Angels for Animals in Canfield, it’s all about the animals.
“I love the peace that working with animals gives me,” said James of Ellsworth, who volunteers taking care of cats.
She got her start when she brought a cat to the animal shelter to be spayed and was impressed with the care the animal received.
“I just wanted to give back” she said — and for the past 11 years, she has been doing just that.
Her duties include caring for and helping with adoptions of the more than 60 felines at Angels for Animals. She knows most of the feline residents by name.
Even though James deals with a lot of the shelter cats, she has two felines of her own at home and has on occasion fostered numerous cats from the shelter.
Angels For Animals, located at 4750 state Route 165, has been caring for animals and providing veterinary care including spaying and neutering for 25 years. Visit www.angelsforanimals.org for information about the organization.
