Authorities say the crash of a small plane near a southeastern Pennsylvania airport has left two people dead.

Emergency officials in Chester County said the crash was reported near Brandywine Airport in West Goshen Township just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dispatchers said two people were found dead following the crash of the plane. An official said the pair were the only people aboard the aircraft.

Officials said the plane took off from the airport but lost control and went down in a field about two miles away.

Emergency crews reported that the plane burst into flames following the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration was to investigate the cause of the crash.
