Red Hat luncheon to celebrate spring

CLEVELAND

The Red Hat Society is celebrating spring with an afternoon of music, food and fun. A luncheon set for 11 a.m. April 15 will bring the band Alesandra and the Classics to the Holiday Inn Hotel, 4181 West 150th St.

Tickets for the Red Hat event are $22 per person and include a meal choice of chicken breast, tilapia or spaghetti and meatballs. To make reservations call Sandy Green at 216-252-7700.

Speaker will talk about volcanoes

LEETONIA

Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., will host a speaker, Mike Little, retired park ranger and geologist, at 6 p.m. April 16.

His topic will be “Destruction and Death, Volcanoes and Mountains: Can North America and Europe be Prepared?”

Little recently traveled to Iceland to explore the changes in its geology and topography from volcanic eruptions related to the rifting process in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Air travel disruptions and ash pollution are some of the consequences that affect people beyond Iceland.

Beer, wine tasting will benefit chorus

Stambaugh Chorus will sponsor a Benefit Beer and Wine Tasting from 3 to 5 p.m. April 19 at the Magic Tree Pub & Eatery, 7463 South Ave.

Tickets cost $20 and will be available at the door or can be reserved by calling 330-727-4502 or visiting stambaughchorus.org.

The cost of the ticket includes six tastes of wine and/or beer. Food will be available for purchase. Other opportunities to support the Stambaugh Chorus will include a basket raffle and a 50-50 raffle.

ACTION banquet set for April 23

ACTION, the Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods, will have its 13th annual banquet April 23 at St. Michael Family Life Center, 300 N. Broad St.

A social period will begin at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6.

The Frances Kerpsack Award will be bestowed to Herbert Ferguson and Anthony Lariccia, and in honor of the late Joanie Abdu.
