Assistant DD super leaving

Staff report

AUSTINTOWN

Kristine Hodge, assistant superintendent of the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities since 2008, will be leaving May 1 to become superintendent of the Delaware County, Ohio, Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Hodge had the additional title of acting superintendent of the MCBDD for a year between the time the board put its superintendent, Larry Duck, on paid administrative leave and the September 2014 hiring of William Whitacre as superintendent after Duck resigned.

Hodge, who applied unsuccessfully to be superintendent here, joined the MCBDD staff in 2003 as director of community services. Her salary here is $92,568 a year.

She’ll be paid $105,000 a year under her 25-month contract as superintendent in Delaware County.

“It’s a wonderful professional opportunity to serve people with disabilities and their families in central Ohio,” Hodge said of her new position. “It’s a great opportunity for me and my family.”

In Delaware County, where she was chosen from among eight applicants, Hodge will succeed the retiring Robert Morgan, who has been superintendent there for 31 years.

“I will miss the relationships I’ve built with individuals and families, our staff, providers [of services] and community leaders,” Hodge said of her departure from Mahoning County.

Hodge has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in education, both from Youngstown State University, where she is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership.
