DELAWARE, Ohio

A former central Ohio elementary school teacher has been indicted on 32 charges involving the sexual assaults of five students.

Prosecutors in Delaware County outside Columbus on Thursday announced the indictments against 39-year-old Matthew Rausenberg. Until his arrest last week, Rausenberg was a popular third-grade teacher at Arrowhead Elementary School. He resigned after his arrest.

The case came to light after a teenager reported that Rausenberg had previously molested her.

He’s charged with 28 counts of gross sexual imposition, and two counts each of kidnapping, and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor. He could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of all the charges.

Rausenberg is jailed with a $1 million bond. His arraignment was set for Monday. Court records didn’t list an attorney.
