Polish Youngstown announces its next Polska Kuchnia: kielbasa, from 1 to 4 p.m. April 19 at Badurik Butcher Block, 3761 Main St.

A master class in sausage making will feature local expert Steve Badurik, who will show how it is done. Badurik has become known for his unique combinations and will share his knowledge with students, from chopped meat combinations to seasoning to casing choices. After tasting all the goodies, students will leave with a pound of their favorite.

The cost is $25 per person, pre-paid and pre-registered. Space is limited. Call 330-333-9724.

Dog rescue group plans a fundraiser

CANFIELD

Friends of Fido dog rescue will present its third annual Shop & Save Lives Spring Vendor Show from noon to 4 p.m. April 11 at Tippecanoe Country Club, 5870 Tippecanoe Road.

Featured will be more than 30 local vendors selling homemade products, a basket auction, refreshments and a complimentary chocolate-covered strawberry.

Steel museum plans an appraisal fair

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry & Labor, 151 W. Wood St., will have a public appraisal fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 11.

Many local experts will be on hand to view and discuss the potential value and history of objects brought in.

Antiques, art, books, toys, jewelry, furniture and memorabilia are welcome. No firearms or other weapons.

Each appraisal will cost $5; proceeds go to the center.

Stitches in Time set for Salem Library

SALEM

Stitches in Time will meet at 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 15 in Salem Public Library’s Quaker Room, 821 E. State St.

The gathering, which is open to the public and free, is for anyone who crochets, knits, cross-stitches or does needlepoint, etc. Take a project to work on. Relax, enjoy the conversation and stitch.

No registration is required.

Program will teach planting tree seedlings

SALEM

Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Salem Public Library will host a program that is part of the “Go Wild at the Parks” program series.

It will take place at 6 p.m. April 15 at Waterworth Memorial Park, Superior Avenue.

Gather at Pavilion 9 near the duck pond and basketball court.

The program will teach proper tree seedling planting techniques.

Jason Reynolds of the Columbiana County Soil and Water Conservation District will demonstrate planting bare root tree seedlings and discuss some of the do’s and don’ts.

He also will talk about different methods on planting a large number of tree seedlings and how to protect them from the weather and common pests.

After the program adults will receive a free tree seedling.
