CAMPBELL

Campbell City Schools will introduce more rigorous curriculum for the 2015-16 school year.

Teachers and administrators created changes and additions to the curriculum, according to a news release from the school system.

“As a district, we have an obligation to provide a high-quality education to all students to prepare them to compete and excel in a world economy,” Superintendent Matthew Bowen said in a statement.

The math department will expand from three full-time teachers to four for grades seven to 12, Bowen said. The district is seeking applications for the new teacher.

Additionally, there are considerations to add new courses to the Youngstown State University College Credit Plus program, which allows students to earn college credit while attending Campbell Memorial High School. The school will also expand its elective credit courses in strength and weight training, psychology and interactive broadcasting.

The school district will host an information session regarding the College Credit Plus program for parents of students who are now in grades six to 11. The session will take place in room 310 at Campbell Memorial from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday.
