Cop spitter gets a year in jail
YOUNGSTOWN — Judge Lou D'Apolito today sentenced Anthony Girardi, 28, of Market Street, to a year in jail for spitting on a city police officer after a traffic stop in October.
Girardi pleaded guilty Jan. 9 in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to a count of harassment by bodily substance and several traffic charges.
The jail sentence is part of two years' probation. Girardi is being given credit for about four months he has served in the county jail so far.
Girardi was accused of resisting officers investigating a traffic accident in which he was involved.
