Valley STEM+ME2 Academy to open at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN — The Valley STEM+ME2 Academy, the only STEM-designated high school in the area, will open on the campus of Youngstown State University next school year.
The Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing and Entrepreneurship school will be on the second floor of Phelps Hall.
“This is an exciting day for the future STEM students of the Valley,” board President Vince Colaluca said. “The partnership with Youngstown State University will provide our STEM students with a truly unique experience.”
The school will enroll 110 students from any district who are entering ninth-grade for the 2015-2016 school year. Students may apply online at http://www.ValleySTEM.org.
“We are trying innovative techniques that span different areas of study related to STEM fields,” said Jason Braddock, the school’s director. “It is not the way we attended school. It is very exciting to be a part of this.”
