Split verdict in Mahoning County robbery case

YOUNGSTOWN — A jury in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court delivered a split verdict today in a robbery case.

Jurors in the court of Judge Shirley Christian found James Woods, 20, not guilty of aggravated robbery but guilty of carrying a concealed weapon.

Woods was accused of robbing a Market Street Family Dollar in November 2012. Shortly after the robbery, Woods was a passenger in a car pulled over by police a short distance away. Police said a gun in the car was linked to Woods.

A sentencing date on the weapons charge has not been set yet.
