Ohio teacher accused of sexually assaulting students resigns

LEWIS CENTER, Ohio (AP) — The board of education for a central Ohio school district says an elementary school teacher accused of sexually assaulting students has resigned.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the board of education for Olentangy Local Schools in Delaware County accepted the resignation of Matthew Rausenberg, 39, who was arrested March 16 on single felony counts of rape and gross sexual imposition.

Court records allege Rausenberg sexually assaulted multiple minors on school grounds beginning in 2006.

The board had been initiating action to fire Rausenberg before his resignation. The superintendent is also expected to write to the Ohio Department of Education to revoke Rausenberg’s teaching license.

Rausenberg remains in the Delaware County Jail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday.
