Youngstown man charged with assaulting Campbell cop
CAMPBELL — James Newell, 33, of Youngstown was arrested on three counts for assaulting on a police officer, and other charges, Tuesday evening.
According to the police report, Sgt. Kevin Sferra, and Officer Robert Curtis observed a dark green Chevrolet sedan driving eastbound on Gladstone Street without a front license plate. Police signaled the vehicle to stop as it turned on to Courtland Avenue and then into the Blaze Oil parking lot near.
Sferra, and Curtis struggled with the driver, Newell, to get him out of the car. Newell allegedly fled to the inside space between the ice cooler and the Blaze Oil building, using the pillars as a barrier from officers.
