OSHP troopers: Wrong-way driver causes fatal I-70 crash

WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a suspected drunken driver speeding the wrong way on Interstate 70 slammed into a minivan, killing one of the occupants and injuring others.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. today west of Columbus in Madison County. The patrol says the 24-year-old woman likely drove about 15 miles west in the eastbound I-70 lanes before the crash.

The patrol says Maribel Pablo Mijangos, 32, of Columbus, a passenger in the van, died on the way to a hospital. Two other adults and three children were injured and taken to hospitals.

The driver of the Nissan Rogue told troopers she had no memory of the crash. She was not seriously injured. No word on charges yet.
