Eagle Scouts recognized Sunday in Boardman


BOARDMAN — Whispering Pines District of the Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America, will recognize its 2014 volunteers and Eagle scouts at its annual awards dinner beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave.

In addition, this year’s dinner will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow, which recognizes Scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Scout Law in their daily lives.

Also, 24 Eagle scouts, the highest award for Boy Scouts, will be honored, and two District Awards of Merit, the highest honor for a volunteer, and the Silver Beaver Award, the highest council level award for distinguished service, will be presented.

The Whispering Pines District serves 1,100 youth in 42 units supported by 150 adult volunteers in Mahoning County and Hubbard in Trumbull County.
