Youngstown police make arrests for heroin use over the weekend


YOUNGSTOWN — A man found passed out inside an East Side home early Saturday morning with $474, a digital scale and bags of heroin and marijuana next to him was one of three people over the weekend arrested for having heroin.

Officers responding to an alarm at a home in the 1300 block of Hawn Street about 1:35 a.m. Saturday found Joseph Felder, 43, of Youngstown, passed out in a bed from being drunk, reports said.

Reports said on a night stand next to Felder they found three bags of heroin, a bag of marijuana and a pill. The money was found on the night stand and in a wallet and the scales were found in the kitchen, along with a security camera. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drugs.

Also arrested was Catherine Getsy, 26, of Lowellville, is charged with possession of heroin after a dose of the drug was found in her car about 3:35 p.m. Saturday after a traffic stop at South and Hilton avenues.

Police found Christopher Harrison, 30, of Austintown, passed out in the bathroom of the McDonald's restaurant, 2525 Market St., about 6:50 p.m. Saturday. Next to Harrison on the floor police found a syringe, a bottle cap with suspected heroin residue and an individual dose of suspected heroin.

Harrison was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital by paramedics with a police hold for charges of possession of heroin, possessing drug-abuse instruments and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
