Youngstown police investigating pot plants found at West Side home


YOUNGSTOWN — Police found 95 marijuana plants about 6:40 p.m. Friday in a West Side home.

Reports said police received a complaint someone was growing marijuana at a home in the 100 block of South Portland Avenue.

Reports said when officers arrived, the owner, Thanh Ngo, 44, admitted he was growing marijuana in the basement when officers told him why they were there.

Reports said he allowed police to search his home and they found three areas in the basement used to grow marijuana and found 89 marijuana plants there.

An additional six plants were found in the attic, reports said.

Ngo was given a citation for illegal cultivation of marijuana. The plants were seized by the Vice Squad.
