“The Late Late Show With James Corden” (12:37 A.M., CBS): We really don’t know what to expect from Corden, a U.K. native who takes over for Craig Ferguson. But “warmth” is what he’s striving for. “So much of what you see and read is not pleasant right now,” he says. “I [want] a show that reaches out to people and reminds them that there are still wonderful things. I’d love to make a warm, really funny show.” His Week 1 guest list includes Tom Hanks, Kerry Washington, Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.

Civil War programs at history center
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is offering a series of free programs to commemorate the end of the Civil War, each presented by Traci Manning, education curator.

“Mary Todd Lincoln’s Triumph and Tragedy as First Lady,” 7 p.m. Tuesday.
“The Lincoln Assassination,” 7 p.m. April 14.
“April 1865: A Month That Changed America,” noon April 16. This Bites & Bits of History program focuses on the month in which the Confederate capital of Richmond, Va., fell; the Army of Northern Virginia surrendered; and President Lincoln was assassinated.
